Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) & Time of Flight Diffractions (TOFD ) advanced non-destructive examination technique that uses ultrasonic probes capable of pulsing elements individually at different time intervals. Compared with conventional ultrasonic,
PAUT provides higher probability of detection, it is faster, more reliable, and it provides 2D or 3D images and a permanent record of the inspection through the data recorded.
This course is designed for any experienced Level 2 qualified ultrasonic technicians looking to expand their knowledge and gain a qualification in phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT).

This course is suitable for all personnel including testers, inspectors, engineers, and surveyors who require a thorough and comprehensive introduction to ultrasonic testing of welded joints. This course is also suitable for personnel working in the aerospace industry and can be found under the Aerospace section.
The eLearning training is part of the blended learning ToFD package, which provides a mix of eLearning and in-class practical training followed by certification to BS EN ISO 9712. The online modules can be studied when and where it is most convenient and at your own pace.
The package separates the learning of key concepts from the learning of a specific instrument, coupled with interactive exercises focused on the principles behind set-up, calibration, acquisition and data analysis. An intuitive logical training structure, which invariably helps the students understand key concepts, step-by-step.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course will teach you about software familiarity, use of software tools for defect detection and sizing, data analysis, procedures for verification of flaw existence and position, and reporting.
The principles of phased array & Tofd inspection, principles of phased array probes, principles of inspection sensitivity, and phased array & Tofd instrument. You will also learn about scanning with phased array & Tofd probes, calibration and checks, software for data collection and data analysis, and principles of data analysis.
Training in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9712 and ends with the certification examination.
